CLAY. FORM. SPACE.

Each piece is thrown, glazed and fired in our studio. No two are alike.

Beirïfu is a ceramics studio in Nof-HaGalil, created from the connection between architecture, design and handcraft.

Rand, an architect and ceramic artist, is behind Beirïfu. In her studio, she creates handmade ceramics and hosts people who want to experiment with the material, learn and work with clay. Alongside the workshops and courses, the space creates unique handmade collections and items.

Week after week, the hands remember

Regular classes for children in the studio — in small groups, with personal guidance and real time to delve deeper into clay. Courses for adults will open soon.
  1. 1

    Getting to know clay

Touch, press, discover how the material responds to your hands. The first sessions are an introduction to clay - no prior experience necessary, no expectations, just experiment, create and discover.

  2. 2

    Hand and stone construction

We will learn different ways to work with clay - on stones and through hand building techniques. We will learn, experiment, and create at a pace that suits you.

  3. 3

    Paint and glaze

Once the vessel has dried and undergone its first firing, it is time to add color and character. Choose shades, play with different techniques and discover that the kiln will surprise you even more. This is where the vessel begins to become yours.

  4. 4

    Burning and the finished vessel

The works are fired again in the oven, at a high temperature that turns the clay into a durable and useful tool. After a little more patience, they are ready to come out of the oven - and go home with you.

Where does the name come from?

Beirïfu is the Japanese word for bay leaf — وَرَق الغار — which in Arabic is called rand, which is also the meaning of my name.

My connection to Japan extends far beyond that. I have always been inspired by Japanese philosophy and the way it relates to beauty, simplicity, materiality, and everyday life. And Wabi-Sabi, with its appreciation for imperfection and transience, is particularly close to how I see ceramics. I am also drawn to the ideas of mindfulness, restraint, craftsmanship, and finding beauty in the ordinary.

These philosophies have naturally become part of the way I design, create, and experience objects—and an important part of what Beirïfu stands for.
